Phase II Investigations
A Phase 2-site investigation may be required if the first phase of the assessment concludes that significant pollutant linkages may be present. Phase II Surveys seek to assess the risks across any site, using a series of Targeted sampling points as well as other data to determine the nature of soils, groundwater and hence the link between any contaminants, pathways and receptors.
This usually involves the collection of subsurface soil and groundwater samples and accurate on-site analysis of samples and proper diagnosis of the results. The field results are used to confirm the presence of contamination and to delineate the extent of contamination. Initial testing for common contaminants are performed in an approved UKAS accredited external laboratory.
Our Services include:
• Site Assessment and Risk Evaluation
• Soil and Groundwater Impact Studies
• Hydrological Investigations
• Fate and Transport Assessment and Modelling
Upon receipt of the chemical analysis for the soil and water samples it is possible to establish the extent of contamination present on the site and perform a detailed Risk Assessment of the site.
This risk assessment is drawn up utilising the Conceptual source-pathway-target model to form either a Qualitative or Quantitative Risk Assessment or both dependent on the site.
