Subsidence Investigation & Repairs

Determining subsurface geology is vital for a number of reasons, but perhaps most importantly establishing its capacity to support proposed loads. Therefore it is necessary to derive the following:

1. How close is the bedrock to the surface?

2. Are there any variations across a site that can result in differential settlement?

3. Are any cavities present within the bedrock that will reduce load bearing capacities?

4. What are the compressive strengths of sediments present?

5.
What cohesive materials are present, what are their composition and ultimately their effect on foundation design?

Subsidence itself is the downward movement of foundations, due to the falling of ground strata. The effects of subsidence are often noticeable in brick or stone houses when cracks and bulges appear in walls as a result of subsidence.

Recognised as a specialist field of expertise, AES-Marconi are pleased to offer services that ensure the swift and accurate investigation, diagnosis and rectification of subsidence damage.
