At AES-Marconi we believe that the fast effective containment and clean up of oil and fuel leakages and spills is essential if pollution is to be reduced. All too often, however, it can be difficult to obtain a professional service and sufficient quantities of absorbent materials quickly – especially if the incident occurs at night, or during transportation.
AES-Marconi’s R.E.S.C.U.E. (Rapid Emergency Service for Cleaning Up the Environment) is a 24 hour manned spill response service for land, water and air to mitigate the impact of spills on the environment and to minimise the cost of cleanup.
AES-Marconi maintains rapid response facilities and equipment capable of guaranteeing a response to an incident within 2 hours of an alert. A spillage incident can involve some, or all of the following activities:
(a) Communication of Incident to AES
AES-Marconi use incident information to determine the time, location, nature of materials spilled and involvement of other emergency services to set up a three level communication network incorporating contact names, telephone numbers and addresses.
(b) Initial Containment of Spilled Material
AES would immediately act on-site to contain and recover migrating spills, and halt any further spillage. This may require the use of booms, absorbents and the construction of ditches, etc. as well as the removal of pollutants and polluted materials to road tanker, lorry or skip for specialist disposal.
